Child Care Assistance Program
Benefits:
The Child Care Subsidy or Purchase of Child Care (POC) program helps eligible families pay for child care. Vouchers, issued to eligible families by local departments of social services, are used to purchase care from any regulated child care center or home or from an informal provider approved by the local department. For help in locating a regulated child care provider, contact Child Care Resource Centers (Click here for Child Care Resource Centers) in your area.

Eligibility:
  1. You must be in school, employed or participating in a work activity.
  2. Your child's immunizations must be up to date.
  3. You must meet an income requirement click here for income chart.
  4. You may be asked to pay co-pay.

How to Apply:
Apply in your Local Office or through the internet.

Where to Apply:
  • Apply at your Local Department of Social Services. Click here for a list of local departments to apply in person. You may file an application by mail, fax or other electronic means or someone may drop an application off for you.
  • Apply online: Go to www.marylandsail.org to file your application.


  • What to Bring:
    1. Photo identification (driver’s license, Maryland ID, or employment ID).
    2. Proof of address (apartment or house lease; electric, gas, water, or phone bill; rent book; rent receipt; or mortgage statement).
    3. Proof of income for past 2 (pay stubs that show your income, or most recent benefit letter for government checks (SSI, SSDI, VA, or Social Security).
    4. If you are a student, proof that you are enrolled as a full time student.
    5. Proof that your child's immunizations are upto date, met the Maryland State Immunization requirement for his/her age.
    6. If you are a single parent, you must provide proof that you have met child support requirements by reporting information about the absent parent.
    7. Social Security cards: Everyone who gets services must have a social security number. It is best to bring a card for everyone for whom you are seeking benefits (yourself, children, and so on).
