Adult Protective Services
Serves individuals age 18 or over who lack the physical or mental capacity to provide for their daily needs. The purpose of this program is to prevent or remedy neglect, self-neglect, abuse or exploitation of adults who are unable to protect their own interests and are at risk of immediate harm to themselves or to others.
In-Home Aide Services
Serves adults with functional disabilities who need assistance with activities of daily living in their home.
Services provided include chores, personal care, transportation/escort,training in self-care and care-giving skills. Guidance and support to parents under stress, to caretakers of individuals with disabilities,and to aged and vulnerable adults are also available.
Social Services to Adults
Is a case management program designed to assist elderly, adults with disabilities, and vulnerable adults age 18 years and older obtain home and community based long-term care services, equipment and programs.
Project Home
Provides Certified Adult Residential Environment (CARE) homes where adults with disabilities 18 years or age and older are provided supportive housing, care and supervision. Services provided to residents in CARE homes include: room, board, assistance with activities of daily living. Providers also encourage residents to do what they can for themselves, and make opportunities for social and recreational activities.
Respite Care Program
Supports family care-givers capacity to maintain family members with disabliities at home and in the community. It provides short-term, periodic care to individuals with developmental or functional disabilities, in order to provide a period of rest and renewal to family caregivers.
Representative Payee Program
Assists elderly and disabled adults with limited income to effectively manage their money.
Adult Public Guardianship
Is limited to matters essential to safeguard the welfare of the person under public guardianship. It is limited to those decisions where a substitute decision-maker is necessary.
Project SAFE
(Stop Adult Financial Exploitation) Trains the financial and law enforcement communities on how to detect and report financial exploitation. It also educates vulnerable Marylanders about how to avoid financial exploitation.
Training materials for employees of financial institutions and law enforcement officials, seminar manuals, brochures and a video for training older adults on avoiding financial abuse are now available.
